Exciting UK artist Geiom hits Festival Weekend
Nottingham-based DJ and live artist Geiom will be bringing his exciting style to the Raise the Roof! festival weekend at Nottingham Contemporary in early October.
Geiom’s sound draws on many influences and features minimal beats and haunting melodies. A pioneer of the UK Electronica and Dub step sound in the early 90s, Geiom got in to dance music during the hardcore era and from the mid 90s he drew his inspriation from The Black Dog and Aphex Twin, enjoying a string of releases on labels Meir, Skam and Neo Ouija. Then in 2004 a FWD tour came to Nottingham and Geiom was introduced to dubstep for the first time.
Geiom followed the sound around the UK before starting his own label, Berkane Sol, in 2006. The label has since released music by both established and emerging dubstep talents including Skream, Kode 9, Shackleton, Brackles and Shortstuff, Spamchop, Hizatron, Appleblim, Aleks Zen, Bowly and Erra. Geiom’s productions, remixes and collaborations have established themselves on labels such as Planet Mu, Deep Medi, Soul Motive and Wigflex.
Mixing live instrumentation with computer technology and incorporating electro, dub reggae and even Indian music, Geiom’s music is always thrilling and unpredictable. Geiom has performed at many electro and dubstep nights around the UK and performed at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy Events.
